It was an amazing night for Welsh ICE and our members last Friday when our Chief of Operations, Mandy Weston, along with two of our ICE members were all winners in their categories at the Caerphilly Business Forum Awards.

Mandy was thrilled to pick up the Women in Business award which recognises someone who can encourage and motivate other women. She said:

“This award means so much to me, especially as a Caerphilly girl with a Caerphilly business. Winning in this category is not only a great honour but I hope it can bring confidence to other women thinking about starting up and highlight the great work already being done by women in business.”

Founder of DW Studio, David Wiffen was named Entrepreneur of the year, after battling it out with Gareth, Cariann (Managing Director of Wize VA) and Gemma Hallet (MiFuture).

The Award was given to the individual that, in the opinion of the Judges, has demonstrated outstanding and consistent achievement, particularly over the last twelve months, or that shows the greatest promise for the future.

“It’s a real honour to be named the CBF Entrepreneur of the Year 2016. DW Studio has been a major focus of my life over the last 5 years and it’s fantastic that the hard work and commitment of the entire DW team has been recognised. We’ve had great success over the past 12 months in particular winning sizeable new contracts directly with Dyson, Network Rail, Blohm+Voss and many more wonderful brands across the world. We look forward to continuing to expand our client base in 2017 and growing the business in a structured and sustainable way. A huge thank-you to Welsh ICE for their wonderful support over the last 4 years and for creating a community where businesses and individuals can thrive and achieve their goals.”

Meanwhile, Mike Palmer-Day of Service Tracker won the Innovation Award which recognises and rewards an IT initiative that can demonstrate an innovative new product, solution or service that has delivered measurable benefit for business users or customers in areas such as application development, e-commerce, hosting, or web-based services.

He said:

“ServiceTracker are honoured to receive the award for Software Innovation at the CBF Awards and be recognised for our service management products and services. It is a huge privilege to join the “Winners Club” at Welsh ICE where so many amazing people have previously taken home trophies for their wonderful achievements. Massive congratulations to Mandy and David who also did ICE proud on the night. We look forward to the opportunities that this recognition will bring us in the near future and thank the Caerphilly Business Forum for raising our profile and for a fantastic night!”

The Innovation award has been won by an ICE member for every year that it has been running, first by Blackwood Embedded Solutions in 2014, and then again by Bomper Studio in 2015. Guess we really are the home for innovation!

Congratulations everyone!
