ICE member Caerphilly Observer has won two awards at the Wales Media Awards! One, for Community Outlet of the Year award and another for Scoop of the Year!

The black tie awards ceremony, hosted by the BBC’s Huw Edwards at Cardiff’s Marriott Hotel was held last week on Thursday, March 19th.

Editor and publisher, Richard Gurner said;

“To be named Community Outlet of the Year is our biggest achievement by far. To be recognised by our peers in the industry is a huge honour.

“I have to say a huge thank you to our readers and our advertisers for their unwavering support.

Reporter Gareth Hill was also shortlisted as a finalist for Young Journalist of the Year.

Since 2011, Caerphilly Observer has been providing Caerphilly County Borough with local news and information and continues to get thousands of hits on the website and persistent expansion of their print reach. Last year, they expanded, recruiting full time graduate Gareth Hill and moving into an office of their own at Welsh ICE.
