Every year, Welsh ICE celebrates its birthday with a big summer BBQ and this year was no different. As always, in the lead up to the BBQ, we were gathering votes for our fifteen award categories. For one of the categories, we asked our members to vote for the person they thought ‘Most Likely to Take over the World’. After the votes had been counted (and verified) our three finalists were Cariann Emanuelli, director of Wize Virtual Admin, Keiran Russell, director of SnowSpire and Marsha Ward, director of The Number Hub.

And the winner was… Marsha! Who was presented with a lovely certificate, a minion balloon (to do her bidding) and a Donald Trump wig, which we’re sure will come in handy. We asked Marsha to tell us a bit about her business and how it feels to be voted most likely to take over the world.

World

First of all- what is The Number Hub?
The Number Hub offers a fresh and modern approach to accountancy. We specialise in small and start up business support and work closely with our clients to become the extra arm of their business and support them in every way we can to make, what can be stressful, into something that is easier and simpler to manage and tackle.

Have you always wanted to run your own business?
It wasn’t something I set out to do. I’d spent a great many years working my way up the corporate ladder and learnt so much about how to (and how not to) run a business that I had to do something with that knowledge. And, well, I have to say I’ve never looked back. Having the freedom to create a service that is exciting to your clients and to strategise so as to continuously develop and grow is exhilarating. Helping your clients to do the same gives an enormous sense of achievement.

Were you surprised to win this award?
Yes! We’ve had a year of reaching award finals with external organisations but not winning. This award meant more because we were voted for by people we work alongside every day.

Why do you think you got so many votes?
I think people voted because our goal IS world domination 😉 Today Caerphilly, tomorrow the World (well, Cardiff… then Bridgend…then Swansea…THEN the World!).

How do you think running the world would compare to running The Number Hub?
Not all that different to running a business I would imagine. The formula wouldn’t be dissimilar. Establish rules, encourage creativity, develop self-sufficiency. Job done!

What does the future hold for The Number Hub? (and world domination?)
We plan to establish Caerphilly and Cardiff and then begin franchising in other locations. Wales – UK – World!

Thanks Marsha! We also spoke to runners up Cariann and Keiran for their thoughts on why they were shortlisted. Cariann said:

I was really surprised! I guess, people see me around a lot and I’ve become a bit of a go-to person for help at ICE since I’ve been here for so long. Wize is expanding too, so hopefully we’ll be taking over the virtual world in no time!
