Panda provides support and training to vocational educators (trainers, assessors and tutors) in the post-16 education sector in Wales. This sector is crucial in developing the future workforce in Wales and providing these practitioners with the skills and confidence to do this is imperative. We like to inspire creativity and innovation in training delivery and to have fun whilst doing so!
Panda also works in partnership with other training providers to project manage, develop and deliver training for unemployed youth and adults, with a particular focus on digital and creative skills. We aim to give our learners confidence and employability skills whilst supporting them to take their next steps in life.
Panda also works on the Inspiring Skills Excellence project for the Welsh Government, promoting Apprenticeships and supporting people to enter the World Skills competitions in Wales and the UK (to hopefully get to the World Skills Competitions to compete internationally!)
Why Welsh ICE?
All roads lead to ICE
A friend of ours (who is friends with Jamie!) originally told us about ICE, then we met Paul (Castell) at a training event, who told us a bit more. We saw that Impact (of whom we are big Twitter fans!) were also based at ICE, so thought we should give it a go.
We met with Jamie, he told us about the support available, saw the co-working spaces, we couldn’t believe our luck, and as a start up, the prospect of getting it funded for a year was unbelievable. (My Dad kept telling us there was a catch!)
The Trial Period and Tommy!
We had a trial period working in both the Co-lab and the Courtyard. That’s where we met Tommy (and Rhei, Sara, and the Hattons!) - we loved going into work every day and having tummy rubs and cuddles (and petting Tommy as well!). We attended a few of the GRIT sessions, networking events and the Friday ICE projects. We had no clue about starting our own business but the support we had from ICE and our co-companies was great – it helped us grow in confidence and feel a part of something.
