Caerphilly Comic Con are looking for local businesses to help them raise money for The Autism Directory.

Caerphilly Comic-Con is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to help raise money for local causes. Since launching in 2017, the event has raised over £6000 for Caerphilly Children’s Centre and Sense Touchbase in Caerphilly. This years event will be held on Saturday the 15th of June 2019, and will be held at St Cenydd Leisure Centre.

The event has had great support from Welsh ICE members over the last 2 years and they’re looking to local members again to help support this years event.

The aim of the event is to raise money for charity, so the more sponsorship and support they get from local businesses the more money that they raise on the day can go directly to this year’s chosen charity – The Autism Directory.

The Autism Directory supports people with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as families, friends and carers. They offer advice and help through support groups, workshops, online resources and signposting. The money raised from this years event will go towards helping The Autism Directory to open an allotment within Caerphilly to help people on the Autism Spectrum to develop a range of new skills.

ICE member Weird Triangle have been involved with Caerphilly Comic-Con since inception. Director Craig Mapstone said:

“We’ve been involved with Caerphilly Comic Con since it’s first year in 2017. Each year has got bigger and better and we know that this year will be just as amazing. What we love about Caerphilly Comic Con is that, unlike other comic cons, its main focus is on the local community by providing a family friendly event as well as supporting charities that work within the Caerphilly area. Money raised from each event goes straight back into the community via the nominated charity.

For example, last years charity – Sense Cymru (who are also based here at Caerphilly Business Park) – were able to pay for equipment for a sensory room for the local residents who use their facilities. Vik (the organiser of Caerphilly Comic Con) is also passionate about working in partnership with local businesses to support the event and the community. We’ve built up a great working relationship with Vik, which has resulted in work from new clients due to our profile being raised in the community from sponsoring the event for the last 2 years, and we’re proud to be sponsoring the event again this year.”

There are several sponsorship packages available ranging from £10-£1200, so there should hopefully be a package there for anyone wanting to support this years event.
