They may be more comfortable putting their clients into the spotlight, but Chatterbox Communications made the headlines themselves after being named as finalists in the Wales Start-Up Awards!

The media experts, who started out at Welsh ICE and retain virtual membership, have been shortlisted in the Financial and Professional Services category at the annual awards. Chatterbox has been commended for its PR, copywriting and social media services and for helping clients reach their target audiences with well-timed coverage in media such as the Financial Times, Metro, the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and many specialist trade publications.

Chatterbox founder and director Rebecca Lees said:

“Making the shortlist is a real honour for us! We’re a small PR agency but one with big ambition, and we’re delighted that the prestigious Wales Start-Up Awards give creatives like us a chance to shout about what we do, as well as recognising the hard work (and tears!) that go into building a business from scratch.

“It’s been a challenging two years but thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding, resulting in us moving to bigger office space in Taffs Well and becoming a limited company this year. We’ve had a loyal client list from the start and are proud that this has grown to include well-known names in Wales and further afield, particularly in the health and wellbeing sector, which is at the centre of what we do.

“We’re a very active team and believe strongly that mental wellbeing is as essential as physical fitness, so we’re delighted to be carving a niche in health and wellness PR. In addition, we have a policy of working only with businesses we believe in and people whose values are aligned with our own, which allows us to get the best results for them and makes coming to work each day a real pleasure.”

Chatterbox has recently been working with Cwm Taf University Health Board, feel-good festival The Big Retreat Wales and Spotlight Newport, as well as long-standing clients Socket Store, Sigma Press and 88-year-old long-distance trails book author Ron Scholes. Media coverage includes George Clarke’s Old House, New Home, ITV’s Wales at Six, BBC Radio Wales and TV personality Gail Porter’s home interiors blog.

Rebecca added:

“I’m so grateful to Welsh ICE for giving me a desk and a phone on the basis of a rather sketchy business plan mapped out on a piece of A4! It’s a fabulous community and I’ve learned so much from other members, over countless cups of tea in Calon. Thank you also to the Wales Start-Up Awards and our category sponsors Principality Building Society; we’re now looking forward to a great awards ceremony and to meeting our fellow short-listees at The Depot!”
