Congratulations to the Caerphilly Observer on being named the Independent Community News Service of the Year at the Wales Media Awards.
Impressively, this is the fourth consecutive year that they have won the award.
The Wales Media Awards aim to celebrate and promote great journalism produced from Wales. In this category, the judges were looking for engaging and relevant content, ease of use, quality and accuracy of writing and high production and editorial values.
Richard Gurner, Publisher and Editor of Caerphilly Observer, said:
“Winning the category for a fourth consecutive year was completely unexpected. Once again I’d like to give a huge thank you to all our readers, advertisers and supporters.”
Judges were impressed with the Caerphilly Observer’s fourth consecutive win:
“A proper ‘local’ news provider in a world where local has become something of a negative in mainstream news. News is at the heart of it, with strong journalism and writing running through it. It informs on all issues affecting the community, including crime, courts and council matters.”
Congratulations again, Richard and the team!
