We love a good collaboration between ICE members, especially when it results in new jobs. Recently, a volunteer at GoConnect found himself a full time job with Tekeez, some Welsh ICE collaboration at its best!
Dion attended one of GoConnect’s Enterprise programmes where he worked closely with other unemployed young adults to learn new skills and help set up a youth enterprise to provide positive activities for young people in the more isolated communities of Caerphilly. GoConnect then helped them find work placements to gain valuable workplace experience and be able to continue their learning and development to further boost their employability.
After seeing their request on the private ICE members Facebook forum, Tekeez kindly offered Dion a chance to spend a few days a week with them in their office to learn the ropes and he soon started to add value to the company, taking on more responsibilities and gaining confidence to start leading on some of the work. Founder of GoConnect, Alun Prosser said:
“Despite initially not being in a position to offer any paid work, Richard and Stuart at Tekeez saw the potential in Dion and wanted to offer paid hours. GoConnect then supported Tekeez to access the Jobs Growth Wales programme and through this they were soon able to offer Dion a full time job where he is continuing to do well and is loving his time at ICE.”
Richard Hillsdon at Tekeez added:
“Thanks to GoConnect, and in association with Jobs Growth Wales, we’ve been able to help give someone local a new start and a job and a new future for all of us.”
This week, Dion attended his Welsh ICE induction and met other new members of the community (below). We’re happy and proud to have created such a close knit community which helped bring together GoConnect and Tekeez. In some research we did recently, we discovered that 94% of our members have collaborated with two or more other businesses based at Welsh ICE.
Keep the collaborations going, guys!
