GreenNova’s Director of Photography, James Clarke has won Best Cinematography at the RTS Wales Student Awards for his work on their short drama, ‘Gone Fishing’.

The awards were held on January 31st, at the University of South Wales’ Atrium. RTS Wales Centre held an Industry Day event in conjunction with the Film and TV School Wales/University of South Wales. The day included a conference to celebrate and discuss the future of TV in Wales, an industry fair, networking opportunities, and masterclasses. The day concluded with the RTS Wales Centre Student Television Awards, presented by Daniel Glyn.

The Student Television Awards are for work that shows outstanding visual and aural creativity, a mastery of craft skills, innovation, initiative, and story-telling. The Jury looked in particular for freshness, originality, and audience appeal within the constraints of the law and broadcasting practice, and their decisions were based mainly on these criteria.

‘Gone Fishing’ tells the story of an estranged father and daughter who reunite and are forced to face up to past secrets and failings in order to decide their future.

James, who’s currently in abroad and couldn’t make the ceremony, said:

“The only thing I’ve ever won was best defender playing football when I was 8. To get a message saying you’ve won an award for your work is unbelievable. All the cast and crew should be proud of what the film has achieved!”

The Team at GreenNova graduated last year and are currently completing post-production on Amazon Prime comedy pilot, Spirit Breaker.

Congratulations, James, very well deserved!
