ICE member, Paul Creedy talks sustainable weight loss and his upcoming (free!) talks at Welsh ICE in this guest blog post.
We’re all familiar with the story; it’s the start of a new year and you’ve made the decision that this is the year you’re going to lose weight. You feel optimistic and excited at the prospect of getting healthy and finally having the body you want.
And you’re not the only one who makes this resolution. All over the world people sign up for gym membership, start diets, and prepare detox drinks ready to do whatever it takes to make the change.
But for most people, it doesn’t take long until this enthusiasm fades.
A study from the University of Scranton showed that only 8% of people actually achieve New Years resolutions, and it has been suggested that as many as 95% of people that go on diets end up putting back on the weight they lose, plus more!
With all the diet and exercise information available, how is this possible? What are the 5-8% of people who lose weight and keep it off doing differently? And what do these results mean for everyone else that truly wants a slim, strong, healthy body?
The answer to this question is precisely what is missing from the current weight loss equation. While diets and exercise routines provide the strategy to lose weight, the missing component is our human psychology.
Those that get, and keep, the body they want all have a particular set of beliefs and way of thinking that lead them to not only enjoying the weight loss process, but enjoying doing what it takes to maintain it.
The ultimate outcome is that they no longer see themselves as the type of person to have a body they are unhappy with. They instead become the type of person that does whatever is necessary to have a body they love, and they gain every benefit that comes from that.
This is the powerful shift in thinking that leads to permanent weight loss.
But it’s is all very well saying that you need to sort your thinking out, but how precisely do you do that? This is the side of the weight loss story that I will address in my free talk on Friday 21st July at Welsh ICE.
The influence of my Dad’s love for health and fitness combined with my Mum’s love for psychology has lead me to discover that it truly is the mindset that makes all the difference.
Here are a few points to think about before my talks.
Neuroscientists have shown that between 95%-99% of our decisions, actions, emotions and behavior come from our how our subconscious minds are wired. That means that only 1-5% of everything we think, feel, and do comes from what we would consider to be a free choice.
Let that sink in for a moment. 95-99% of what you think, feel, and do, you don’t even choose. Not only that, most of that subconscious programming happens while you’re a child, long before you became ‘you’.
Is it possible that somewhere in that mass of subconscious thought there may be something preventing you from losing weight?
Absolutely.
It is because of what goes on in our subconscious minds that makes creating any type of lasting change, happiness, or weight loss in lives require more than just positive thinking, or setting resolutions.
I want to show you exactly how to make your subconscious mind work with you so you can finally break old habits, stay motivated, and create the body you love.
My free talk will reveal the exact process you need to go through to make this change, plus I’ll walk you through some very practical steps that you can take right now to get you started.
One hour is all is takes to create a new belief of what is possible.
Join me on Friday 21st July in the upstairs meeting room at Welsh ICE.
