ICE Member RecRock have been given funding from Job Centre Plus to work with 60 unemployed volunteers in a year to improve their skills, confidence and self esteem, so they are looking for referrals. The music gurus will have computers/recording equipment set up and open shared office for people to work. The individuals will be with them for 8 weeks, 2 days a week. Or less if they’re still entry level and need building up a bit.
The participants will be able to take part in the following things
- Put on a showcase event / gig
- Admin / office skills
- Create a music video
- Recording
- Graphic / Website Design
- Live sound
- Performing
- Learn to play an instrument
- Attend music workshops
But as always, RecRock will tailor what they do so that the individuals get the most out of it. They can advise on starting up businesses and point to other volunteering or training opportunities. Referrals can come from PRU’s, 16+ need to be unemployed. The pilot course is full, but you can send referrals over for future projects.
