Awen Collective, NearMeNow, Nightingale HQ and Tendertec have been shortlisted as finalists for the Estnet’s Sir Michael Moritz Tech Start-up Award!
Now in its seventh year, the Wales Technology Awards celebrates the success and innovation of Wales’ vibrant technology industry. After 2018’s sell-out ceremony, the awards have grown again this year with a record number of entries received, showcasing the diverse range of technology businesses in Wales.
One of the most coveted, high profile awards of the evening, the Sir Michael Moritz Tech Start-up Award takes its name from one of the most influential Welsh figures in international business. The award recognises those who have achieved success in a short space of time and have the potential to grow and thrive in the near future.
Awen Collective is a software company reducing the time spent by manufacturers and critical infrastructure providers before and after a cyber-attack or cyber-physical incident. They develop digital forensics software solutions for Industrial Control Systems, Robotics and Internet-of-Things devices.
On being shortlisted for this award, Director of Awen Collective, Daniel Lewis said:

NearMeNow is an app that brings all independent businesses together in one place online; creating a one-stop location for digital interaction with independent businesses on the high street. NearMeNow also creates a truly digital high street environment; allowing customers who are on the high street to view and interact with businesses through augmented reality tiles, overlaid on the real-world view.
As well as being shortlisted for the Sir Michael Moritz Tech Start-up Award, NearMeNow has also been shortlisted for the Technology Leader of the Year award.

Tendertec is harnessing the power of Artificial Intelligence to help senior citizens stay healthy, safe and independent. Tendertec has developed a home sensing system which accurately detects and gradually predicts falls and harmful conditions to help senior citizens stay safe and give their families a peace of mind.

Nightingale HQ will be an online platform to help businesses onboard data science and AI capabilities into their organisation successfully. Organisations are increasingly trying to adopt data science but with a severe skills shortage, a relatively immature software market, and the need to make cultural changes, many fail. The Nightingale platform aims to provide the tools necessary for organisations to navigate the process.
