Too often we’ve spoken to local entrepreneurs and start-ups lamenting the cost and trouble of travelling to London for meetings or missing out on business because they don’t have the opportunity to do so.
It’s this that inspired us to partner with Business Wales and Cardiff Start to create the #CDFTOLDN Trade Missions, giving smaller businesses in Cardiff the opportunity to travel to London, meet clients and mix with the local business community.
We get you to London and back, and give you a space to work from all day. All we ask is that you’re on time for the bus, and that you join us for a drink at the end of the day – the rest of the day is yours. This is all covered in the £35 ticket fee as a founder.
So far, we’ve had two successful trade missions. The second took place in March which saw us based in Soho at the Soho Collective and gave us a talk from the sixth employee of Twitter Europe, Martyn Baker!

“The Cardiff to London trade mission is a great idea and gives SME’s a fantastic opportunity not just to network with other businesses in London but also to get more involved with other businesses in Welsh ICE. I’d fully recommend anyone to get involved as there’s so much going on in London; you never know what you’ll find or who you’ll bump into! The speakers that we’ve had so far have been excellent. My only complaint is getting up at 5am!”
Our next Trade Mission is April 18th.
Our base of operations for the day will be the Huckletree co-working space in Shoreditch which is perfectly placed a stone’s throw away from the buzz of the Tech City. From there you’re free to set your own agenda for the day or stay productive in the workspace.
At 5pm we’ll head over to local bar, Beatone, for some drinks and to hear from a couple of great speakers on their experience in the world of social businesses. We will have the company of two key organisations: ClearlySo, and B Lab – who spread the word about B Corps.
