It’s pretty hard finding the coolest person at ICE because… well… everyone’s pretty cool. But who was voted the coolest of them all (again)?
Why, our resident wizard, Huw of course! We sat down with him to talk about what it is that makes him so (repeatedly) cool.
Huw, tell us a bit about what fills your day.
I work for Welsh ICE as the Wizard! I’m on the Marketing Team and I’m the 1st level IT support. If a member has they can come to me, and I’ll find a way to fix it.
I also have my own small business, Cosmic Anvil. My
partner (Hannah Collins) and I produce a comic book series called Age of Revolution and use Cosmic Anvil to sell it.
We are also using the business as a platform to make more comics and sell our writing talents to blog sites, such as Itcher.com where we are writing a blog on Anime history.
This is the second time you have won the title since the awards began four years ago. Why do you think people keep voting for you? What do you think it is that makes you so cool?
I honestly couldn’t tell you, I wouldn’t vote for me, I didn’t vote for me. However I am happy to know that people think I’m cool enough for the award.
Do you think producing a comic book at Cosmic Anvil or being the resident wizard at Welsh ICE earns you more cool points?
Being a powerful sorcerer and an independent comic book writer might have something to do with it, but I don’t do these things to be cool, it pays the bills and keeps me sane.
Your other half, Hannah Collins of House of Zinthos, won the award in 2015 and was runner up this year. Has it become a bit
of a competition for you both?
Hannah isn’t that competitive, but I have a competitive streak within me that emerges now and then. So I would be lying if I said no.
What’s it like being the coolest couple on the ICE campus? Do you make each other more cool or were you naturally cool anyway?
I never really thought of us being cool as we are kind of odd, but I think we work well as a team and compliment each other.
What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever done?
I once heckled Russell Crowe at the Cardiff premiere of the Noah movie he did. I was a little drunk.
Obviously everyone wants to be as cool as you. What’s your top tip?
Dunno, ask Jonathan Smith.
Thanks Huw, we will! If you want to learn more about Cosmic Anvil, check out their website here.
