Wize VA has been shortlisted as a finalist at the Institute of Directors Wales 2019 Awards in the Family Business Category.

The awards are a celebration of leadership talent, success and achievement and have grown over the past seven years to represent the pinnacle of leadership and business excellence in Wales.

The Family Business award recognises individuals in family businesses who have responded to the specific challenges that face directors in family firms and who have contributed to the success of the diverse, dynamic and innovative family business sector.

On being shortlisted, MD Cariann Emanuelli said:

‘Being members of the IOD for a few years we decided to take a look at the award categories and when we saw there was a family business category we decided to go for it. I did not think we would get chosen as a finalist as there are other larger family business out there doing exceptionally well. As a small family lifestyle business this came as a shock. We are extremely pleased to have made the finalist list and very much looking forward to celebrating on 17th May at Sophia Gardens for the award ceremony. For us this is a win in its self as the IOD is a very well known organisation and the recognition means a lot to both myself and all the staff.’

Wize was set up as ‘Wize Consulting’ by Mandy Weston in 2012 after a move from a corporate background in an exec-level role. At this time, her daughter Cariann was already running her own fitness business but thought she could enhance Wize by introducing Virtual Administration which she would then manage and run.

Since then, the virtual administration facet of the business has been so successful that it has overtaken the consulting becoming ‘Wize Virtual Admin’ and in 2015, Cariann took over from her mother as Managing Director. Since then, both of Cariann’s sisters, Zoe and Becky have also worked for Wize as virtual administrators.

The Institute of Directors Wales Awards will be held on Friday the 17th of May at Sophia Gardens Cardiff Stadium. For more information, visit the website.
